Manager, Major Gifts - St. Paul's Foundation

Job Description

St. Paul’s Foundation is seeking a new Manager of Major Gifts to be responsible for commitments made by St. Paul’s Foundation within the parameters of our Comprehensive Campaign.

As the first person in this newly-created position, our ideal candidate has achieved demonstrable success in major gift fundraising and personal solicitations, ideally in a hospital setting. You have at least five years of relevant experience in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors. Exceptional relationship-building skills will enable you to navigate a complex organization in a solutions-focused manner.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a strategic fundraising plan in conjunction with the Foundation, our volunteer steering committee, and Providence.
  • Build meaningful relationships across Providence to increase support for the Foundation’s work. This will involve liaising with clinicians, scientists, and allied health professionals to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and funding partners.
  • Maintain a current knowledge base of priority initiatives.
  • Work closely with internal teams to identify prospects; create meaningful recognition plans and policies; and develop materials tailored to audiences interested in priority fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding volunteers; help develop agendas and reporting tools for volunteers, our steering committee, and fundraising cabinets.
  • Ensure meticulous maintenance of our Raiser’s Edge NXT database.
  • Prepare an annual workplan and budget in tandem with the development team.
  • Participate in presentations and provide regular progress reports for the director of major gifts, the chief development officer, and the chief innovation development officer.
  • Stay abreast of trends in charitable giving and up-to-date on the tax implications of charitable gifts, including new legislation and rulings affecting such gifts.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years’ relevant experience in philanthropy.
  • Experience working in health care setting.
  • Demonstrated management capabilities with staff and volunteers.
  • Superior interpersonal and collaboration skills to engage and motivate interested parties.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities; adept at time- and organizational-management; keen attention to detail.
  • Able to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Highly computer-literate with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license.
