Regional Kettle Manager - The Salvation Army - Canada and Bermuda Territory

Job Description

The Regional Kettle Campaign Manager is responsible for all aspects of The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign in Vancouver. With a goal of generating revenues in the high six figures, the RKM will be responsible for planning and implementing a campaign that will be strategically driven and engage a cross-section of key community stakeholders including the business community, existing and potential donors, partners, volunteers and the general public. Reporting to the Divisional Secretary of Public Relations, and working closely with the Boundless Executive Director, the position will also be responsible for all aspects of Vancouver’s kettle brand management, ensuring The Salvation Army is visible, consistent and credible and increasing kettle growth and revenue.


  1. Kettle Program:
  • Develop strategies for kettle campaign growth and placement across Vancouver
  • Foster relationships with existing and future Kettle locations / partners
  • Develop effective cultivation and stewardship plan for Kettle partners
  • Build and manage a portfolio of sponsors and prospects with the capacity to support the Kettle campaign
  • Write sponsorship proposals and agreements and close deals to further develop and grow the kettle program
  • Work in collaboration with DHQ to plan the annual Kettle Kick-off
  • Oversee the planning of other relevant Kettle events as needed
  • Oversee and manage Kettle budget; accountable to increase kettle revenue for Vancouver
  • Prepare presentations for leadership team, evaluating progress towards goal
  • Perform daily Kettle admin tasks as required
  1. Marketing & PR:
  • Conduct market research, gather data, analyze business reports and conduct surveys or focus groups to understand the market and competitive landscape in Vancouver
  • Leverage analytics and identify key indicators to ensure Kettle goal is on track and successful
  • Work in collaboration with DHQ to oversee Kettle marketing strategy
  • Responsible for all POS materials, including working with the PR dept to identify branding of any collateral materials and personnel to promote the Kettle program
  • Serve as an official Kettle spokesperson for the media, responsible for serving as the face of the kettle campaign in Vancouver and participating in all media interviews as a Divisional representative
  1. Leadership:
  • Hire, develop, manage and lead a team of highly motivated, customer-focused staff
  • Oversee recruitment and training of all volunteers
  • Build relationships with key Ministry Unit personnel to achieve goals
  • Responsible for setting employee performance goals and objectives and conduct all evaluations


Governance Boards and Councils:

  • Provide quarterly updates to the Divisional Finance Board


  • Ministry Unit Leader at Boundless Vancouver and Volunteers


  • Community stakeholders including the business community, existing and potential donors


  • This position reports directly to the Divisional Secretary of Public Relations but keep Boundless leadership apprised of its activities 
  • Initial and primary point-of-contact for all Regional Kettle inquires and for local ministry units
  • This position has no direct reports at this time


  • Handles credit card with $3000 limit 
  • Manages Kettle Budget Expenses and Revenues
  • Responsible for setting the yearly budget, monitor and track expenses and revenues, and provide quarterly updates to the Divisional Finance Board
  • Responsible for safekeeping and distribution of all POS materials, including branding of collateral and personnel


  • Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions
  • Occasional travel is associated with this position throughout the Lower Mainland
  • Occasional overtime, including weekends, will be required

Job Requirements


Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • University degree in Marketing or Business Administration (or equivalent experience)

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • Min three- five years in a sales manager role working Business-to-Business and or Business-to-Consumer
  • Min three-five years in corporate or business development
