Manager, Fund Development & Communications (One-Year Maternity Leave Starting September 2020) - Avalon Recovery Society

Job Description

This work requires an inspiring, independent and energetic leader to guide Avalon toward a financial position that bolsters our expansion strategy. Reporting to the Chair of the Board of Directors, this Manager is responsible for:

All fundraising and communication initiatives for Avalon

  • Creation of legacy gifts, corporate donors, foundation, private donor and government grant opportunities for Avalon
  • Leading the development of the annual giving program and targeted fundraising campaigns
  • Engaging Centre staff and Board in stewardship of existing donor base and development of community relationships
  • Establishing a uniform messaging platform and brand identity
  • Design, content and production of marketing materials
  • Prudent budget management for Fund Development
  • Maintaining Avalon’s positive profile in the community and enhancing visibility

Location: Home-based workspace, but available for frequent travel to Avalon Women's Centres and local fundraising meetings in the Vancouver service area.

Job Requirements

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, with:

  • University degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Demonstrated fundraising and grant writing successes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong external focus and natural ability to connect with people at all levels
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative
  • A passion about Avalon’s Vision, Mission and Purpose
