Arthritis comes in many forms. It can lead to significant, often irreparable, damage to your joints, skin, organs and other areas of the body. Pain, fatigue, loss of function, disability, even death can result. There is no cure. One in five Canadians is diagnosed with arthritis; for many adults and some children, it is a life sentence. The Arthritis Society is working hard to change that by raising awareness, supporting people with arthritis, advocating for public policies as a critical patient voice, and funding vital research.

British Columbia & Yukon Division | Contract | Location: Vancouver 

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Development, and working closely with the provincial revenue development team, the Corporate/Foundation Fundraising Specialist will be accountable for supporting the achievement of the annual gross and net corporate/foundation revenue goals for the province of British Columbia. 

The two (2) key areas of focus for this role will be corporate partnerships and foundations.  
 
Main accountabilities will include:

  • In consultation with the Director of Development, creating strategies for corporate/foundation revenue growth. 
  • Engaging, cultivating and soliciting current and prospective corporate/foundation partnerships in the province of British Columbia. 
  • Securing corporate sponsorships to support our mission and special events, such as Arthritis Answers annual event, as well as supporting the planning and execution of special events. 
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with corporate/foundation donors including visits, announcements, invitations and information exchanges.
  • Creating, managing and maintaining documentation related to meetings and requests.
  • As an active member of the nationwide revenue development committee, supporting provincial and national revenue development activities, as required.  

Job Requirements

    Required Skills & Experience:

    The successful candidate will hold a degree in business studies, fundraising or a relevant discipline with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience gained from a fast-paced university, hospital or non-profit environment. Strong project management skills, exceptional attention to detail and excellent relationship management skills are a must. He/she will have a demonstrated passion for fundraising and making a real difference in the lives of people with arthritis. Excellent Microsoft Office skills are essential, with Raiser’s Edge experience an asset. 

    Note: This is a contract role anticipated to last in duration between November 2019 and February 2021, with the successful candidate working five (5) days/thirty-five (35) hours per week.
